Immersed in contemporary glass art and Seattle on a collector’s learning trip, and realizing even more that Dale Chihuly is the master at marketing a very high end niche product to a select target. How does he do it? Multi-channel, same message, repeated in a variety of ways in as many different formats as possible.

He produces a product, writes about it, does videos about it, and takes it around the world to showcase it. Then, guess what? Writes about it, does videos about it.

And he does not vary from the formula. He is an icon and his work is spectacular, but he is the one artist who is using marketing and PR to keep his prices high and to keep his name out in front of the public. Even those who do not have a clue as to what contemporary glass art even is are learning about Chihuly.

Goes to prove, once again, that you can have the very best product or service in the world, but, until you tell the world about it you cannot sell it.
