From Wasted Blog which always has some unusual stories, the one about the grandmother with the NWTF license plate in Central Ohio. It just goes to show how one person’s reality is not another’s. Her husband had a tree farm, the Northwest Tree Farm, and thus her acronym on her plate in his memory.
In today’s IM world and chat culture, “Now What the F#*&” is what most young/savvy people think when seeing NWTF. They the Motor Vehicle Department did let her keep her vanity plate, but the lesson is that words and their meanings do change and mean different things to others, depending on their experience and reality.
Marketing messages today, more than ever, have to be segmented per target, if possible, so they are reaching the intended audience. And the subtle or not so subtle nuances of words can make all the difference in the world.
